Known as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s election machine or the modern-age Chanakya, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to arrive at Dimapur airport at 2:00 PM from Imphal and proceed to Niathu Resort, Chumoukedima.

 

According to reports, the Union Minister will hold a political meeting with state BJP leaders, followed by a meeting with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other leaders at Niathu Resort. The Home Minister is also expected to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects.

 

Sources also informed that no meeting has been scheduled with the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO).

 

Meanwhile, a meeting between ENPO leaders and the MHA committee was held today in Guwahati.

 

According to India Today NE, ENPO member Wangyuh Konyak claimed that the Government of India (GoI) has agreed to provide a separate legislature for Frontier Nagaland along with access to financial, judicial as well as executive powers.

 

It was also reported that a second round of meeting between GoI and the ENPO members has been scheduled to be held in Guwahati likely in the second week of January.

 

The same news outlet reported that the GoI will announce the nomenclature for Frontier Nagaland in the coming week; the ENPO members are also said to study the same before it is announced once they reach Nagaland on January 6.

 

Sources further said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Tuensang in Nagaland in the second week of January to formally announce the same.

 

It may be mentioned here that the Home Minister is also scheduled to visit the state on January 6 for party-related works.
