As artificial intelligence, blockchain, and other deep technologies continue to reshape governance and society worldwide, Nagaland University’s Department of Law is preparing to place Lumami on the global academic map with a two-day international conference on the emerging relationship between technology and legal systems.

The conference, titled “Synergy Between Deep Tech and Socio-Legal Transformation: Strategies for Viksit Bharat @2047”, will be held on April 29 and 30, 2026, in a hybrid format, enabling participation from researchers and professionals across countries.

The event comes at a time when legal systems globally are grappling with rapid technological disruption – from questions of AI accountability and data protection to cybersecurity, digital governance, and climate justice.

By bringing together legal scholars, policymakers, and international experts, the conference aims to explore how law is adapting to technological change while also asking a deeper question: how can justice systems remain relevant in a digitally transformed world?

Experts expected to contribute include Jorg Molt, Alejandro Mandujano, Prof MK Bhandari, Amana Alkalo, and Prof Yugal Kishore, who will examine the intersection of deep technology and legal frameworks from global perspectives.

The conference will be graced by Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA, Kohima, as Special Guest. Nellayappan B, OSD to the Chief Minister & Deputy Director (Legal), School Education, will attend as Guest of Honour. The valedictory session will be addressed by Nino Iralu, Lokayukta and former Sessions Judge, as Special Guest.

Discussions will focus on key areas including governance, education, environmental sustainability, human rights, corporate law, and criminal justice, with particular attention to the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, cybersecurity threats, and digital transformation.
