Five Nagaland Wushu fighters, along with three team officials, left Dimapur on Friday to compete in the 33rd Senior National Wushu Championship in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The event will take place from 21 to 26 September 2024 at the Maharana Pratap Stadium, Raipur, stated a press release from Nagaland Wushu Association.

The team, representing the Nagaland Wushu Association, is led by Neizouvotuo Khusoh as the team coach, with RK Shanti Kumar Singh as the assistant coach, and Azhove Resu as the team manager for the championship.

The players participating in the Sanda event are: Vipu Zhimomi in the 52 kg category; Mankho T Konyak in the 56 kg category; Nupa Kiho in the 60 kg category; Lichonthung Odyuo in the 65 kg category; and Yoto Chizo in the 70 kg category.

These players will also have the opportunity to represent the state in the National Games if they secure a top-eight finish at the national championship.

Neizouvotuo Khusoh, the team coach, said that the intensive preparation camp went well and expressed optimism for a medal prospect, provided there were no injuries, while he also assured that the players would give their best efforts at the championship.

Meanwhile, the President of NWA and Advisor of CAWD and Taxes, Küdecho Khamo, extended his support and best wishes to the players representing Nagaland at the national championship. He motivated the athletes, emphasizing that the arena they compete in symbolizes the prestige of the state and the association. He reminded them that while the victory ultimately lies in God’s hands, their dedication and effort are crucial in the fight, urging them to give their best in the championship.
