Chuchuyimpang, 17 January (MTNews): In a scathing critique of Nagaland’s road infrastructure, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh didn’t mince words as he addressed the media today in Chuchuyimpang. Ramesh expressed his concern over the deplorable condition of roads and state highways in Nagaland, remarking, “As bad as the condition of roads and state highways in Nagaland is, the scenery here is equally beautiful.” He pointed out that the roads are marred by big stones and potholes, attributing the situation to the BJP ‘double engine government.’

Furthermore, the Congress leader delved into the past, recalling an incident from 24 February 2012. Ramesh revealed that Temsumoa Imsong, presently Chairman of the Village Council of Chuchuyimpang, had received the prestigious Nirmal Gram Puraskar at the Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. However, Ramesh claimed that this recognition occurred before the Prime Minister rebranded the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan to the Swachh Bharat Mission.

“This was before the Prime Minister hijacked the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and made it Swachh Bharat Mission. Nice to meet him again at the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra at Chuchuyimpang, Nagaland,” Ramesh later tweeted on X.

Temsumoa Imsong, addressing the media alongside Jairam Ramesh, emphasized the village’s history as a hub of warriors as over two hundred individuals from Chuchuyimpang have served in the security forces.

Imsong said that meeting Ramesh felt the same as receiving the award again.
