Mokokchung, February 10 (MTNews): Wrapping up the 1st phase of his declaration tour, NDPP candidate for 24 Angetyongpang AC, Tongpang Ozukum on Friday urged the constituents of Phangsang Area to lend him their support once again so that he can take up their cause on a bigger platform.
According to a press release received here, on the second day of his declaration tour, Ozukum travelled to the villages of Yaongyimti Old, New Yaongyimti and Phangsang town respectively.
The candidate was accompanied by his wife, NDPP party workers and its pre-poll ally BJP workers and well-wishers, it said.
In his address to the people of Yaongyimti Old, the NDPP candidate said that he intends to proceed in the spirit of the pre-poll alliance. However, the support of the people is the need of the hour as the Chief Minister and the NDPP has placed immense trust in 24 Angetyongpang Constituency. “So far we have proceeded with trust and understanding in the last five years and I hope that this understanding will continue,” Ozukum was quoted as saying in the release.
Village Council Member (VCM), K. Imlitoshi, while speaking at the event acknowledged the Minister’s work in his previous term. “I thought he would be uncontested given the fact that he had done so many good things. However, that is not the case but that is okay,” he further stated. Although he is confined to Angetyongpang constituency, he is for the whole of Nagas, he added.
Nganshi, Phangsang area chairman said that it is wrong to call the area a backward area, but that “it is time to put forward our resolution that we want to move ahead in life and we need your help with this.”
The first phase of the tour was concluded with a vote of thanks by T. Mangyang from Phangsang town.
