Kohima, 10 April (MTNews): Capital College of Higher Education, Kohima commenced its 13th Annual Sports Meet at State Indoor Stadium, PR Hill, Kohima, with Kethose Chuzho, Secretary of Central Youth, NDPP, gracing the event as the Chief Guest.

In his speech, Chuzho stressed the importance of sports in a student’s life. According to him, sports not only benefit physical and mental health but also help in developing social skills, communication skills, and personality.
Taking the example of Ciekrovolu Swuro, the second Naga Olympian, who is now a police officer, and other successful sports persons from the state, he told the students that one can earn a living through sports even in the state.

Touching on various issues, Chuzho encouraged the students to pursue careers in entrepreneurship. Being an entrepreneur himself, Chuzho made the students aware that there are multiple ways to earn a living through entrepreneurship, be it farming or agriculture. “You have the tools and machinery to become successful farmers,” he said.

In concluding his speech, Chuzho advised the students to use social media responsibly. He also urged the students to follow the example of the Japanese in discipline, cleanliness, and respecting their elders. “Traveling the world gives us new perspectives on life,” he advised.

The opening ceremony was attended by notable Naga wrestlers and arm-wrestlers who conducted the Arm-Wrestling competition. Some of them included Venuzo Dawhuo, Vemele Thingo, Huluyi D Vadeo, Vekuto Curhah, Serayi Tetseo, Rukukhoto Khusoh, Kekhriesetuo Mechulho, and Sukrure Domeh.

In the opening program, Mutunuzo Nyekha of the 6th semester chaired the proceedings, while the welcome address was delivered by Niekhoto Curhah, Assistant Professor, Department of History, and Tovini Kiho of the 6th semester presented a special song. Later in the program, Dr. Zokho Venuh, Principal of CCHE, exhorted the students, and Akangjunla Kichu, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, pronounced the benediction.

The three-day sports meet of CCHE will conclude on April 12th with Ape Puro, Proprietor of Life Fitness, as the Guest of Honor.
