Day 2 of the 3rd North East Community Development Council (NECDC) Senior Men’s Interstate Friendship Tournament 2025 produced two contrasting contests, one a dominant display by Meghalaya against Sikkim, the other a nail-biting thriller where Arunachal Pradesh edged out Mizoram by 7 runs. Both teams registered their first victories of the tournament in emphatic yet very different styles.
At Sovima Cricket Ground, Meghalaya crushed Sikkim by 9 wickets in a one-sided affair. Sikkim, sent in to bat, could only post 150 in 40 overs despite Ankur’s unbeaten 46 (55) and Ashish Thapa’s 40.
Meghalaya’s bowling unit remained disciplined and aggressive. Ram Gurung struck with 3/21, while Akash dismantled the middle order with 3/28 in 9 overs.
Meghalaya chased the target in just 24.3 overs, powered by Arpit Bhatewara’s 55* (63) and Akash’s explosive 53* (40). Akash was named Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance.
Meanwhile, at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Arunachal Pradesh defended a modest 155 to win a tense battle against Mizoram. Techi Doria top-scored for Arunachal with 23, while Mizoram’s Johan Lalbiakkima starred with 4/15.
Chasing 156, Mizoram rode on K Vanrotlinga’s 39 (39) but collapsed under pressure from Nabam Dol, whose fiery 5/23 in 9.5 overs sealed the match in the 44th over. Dol’s clutch performance earned him the Player of the Match title, lifting Arunachal to a hard-fought win.
