Mokokchung, 5 October (MTNews): The Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Sivasagar, Assam, has reinforced a night curfew from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM within a 5 km area on the Assam side of Sivasagar district, bordering Nagaland state. This curfew will be in effect starting from 7 September 2023, and will last for a period of 60 days.
In an official order, the ADM of Sivasagar stated that the night curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent the occurrence of anti-social elements, extremists, or unlawful activities from crossing over into the belt of Sivasagar district along the Assam/Nagaland border.
During the night curfew period, the movement of any person, group of persons, or vehicular traffic is prohibited. However, Magistrates, security personnel from the Army, CRPF, Police, and Civil Officials deployed on duty are exempted from the restrictions imposed by this order.
