Mokokchung, 20 November (MTNews): The Nokpu Village and Longchem Councils has informed the residents of Japukong Range in Mokokchung district who traverse the Longchem-Naganijan route that the contracted firm responsible for road repairs has failed to fulfill its obligations promptly. Consequently, the Nokpu Village and Longchem Council took proactive measures by collecting donations from well-wishers and successfully repaired the road on November 16, 2023.
It has been disclosed that the firm, M/S Win Enterprises, was initially scheduled to commence repairs on the Longchem-Naganijan road in November. Regrettably, the repairs did not materialize, leading to a severe deterioration in the road condition, rendering it impassable for vehicles. Faced with this predicament, the councils took it upon themselves to execute the necessary repairs.
In response to this situation, the two councils have appealed to the mass-based organizations in the area, including Japukong Senso Senden, Japukong Youth Organization, and Japukong Kaketshir Mungdang, to raise their voices and extend support for the urgent repair of the road.
It may be mentioned here that Naganijan is a settlement in Mariani under Jorhat district of Assam and the Longchem-Naganijan road is a vital lifeline for the people of Japukong range in Mokokchung.
