Mokokchung, 20 November (MTNews): The District Child Protection Unit, Mokokchung under the Department of Social Welfare celebrated Universal Children’s Day at the Observation Home, Mokokchung on 20 November. This day marks the culmination of Child Rights Week which commenced from 14 November.
20 November is adopted by UNICEF as the World Children’s Day and historically, in the year 1959, the Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, in 1989.
The District Child Protection Unit Mokokchung, Department of Social Welfare, from 14 November observed many events and activities, which included visits to Care and Support Children Home, Tsumarshiong, Sabangya Compound, Awareness campaign, seminars, and visit to Paediatric Department, IMDH.
