The Nagaland People’s Front (NPF), the Janata Dal (United), Nagaland unit, and the Konyak Union (KU) have expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Phonglou Chang, father of Nagaland Cabinet Minister P Bashangmongba Chang. He passed away in the early hours of Friday, June 20, 2025, at his residence in Tuensang Town.
In separate condolence messages, both parties and the KU conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and paid tribute to the life and values of the late Phonglou Chang.
The NPF described him as a “respected elder whose life of humility, wisdom, and quiet strength will be fondly remembered.” The party extended its condolences to Minister Chang and prayed for strength and comfort for the family, adding, “May the departed soul rest in eternal peace.”
The JD(U) Nagaland, likewise, mourned the loss and offered prayers for the Minister and his family. “Late Shri Phonglou Chang will be fondly remembered for his wisdom, humility, and the values he upheld. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him,” the party stated.
Both parties recalled the legacy of Phonglou Chang as one of integrity and respect, reflecting the impact he had on his community and those around him.
Joining the expressions of condolence, the KU said it was deeply saddened by the news of his passing. In its message, the KU offered its condolences and prayed that the Almighty grant strength and solace to the family during this difficult time. “May the departed soul find eternal rest,” it added.
