The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Headquarters expressed profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss at the passing of Bendangngangshi Ao, a distinguished leader and former MLA from Ungma village.
Bendangngangshi Ao was a prominent figure in Nagaland’s political history, first elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1964 under the Democratic Party of Nagaland (DPN) and reelected in 1969 under the United Front of Nagaland (UFN).
“A stalwart in his own right, he worked closely with Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and stood as a symbol of hope and steadfast dedication to the principles of regionalism,” the NPF wrote in a condolence message.
“Throughout his life, he tirelessly upheld the rights, aspirations, and unity of the Naga people, leaving an indelible imprint on the history of Nagaland,” it added.
The NPF noted that his exemplary service to the Naga people was marked by courage, vision, and a profound sense of responsibility. “He was a voice of reason and strength, who fearlessly spoke for the Naga cause in all circumstances. His contributions to the regional political ideology and his tireless efforts for the welfare of the Naga community will continue to inspire generations to come,” the NPF said.
The NPF also extended its deepest condolences to Bendangngangshi Ao’s family, friends, and loved ones. “We pray that Almighty God grants them strength and solace during this difficult time,” the condolence message conveyed.
The party also honored his remarkable service and legacy, calling on future generations to draw inspiration from his dedication to unity, integrity, and the ideals of regionalism.
“As we bid farewell to a leader of remarkable stature, may his legacy of unity, integrity, and unwavering dedication be carried forward to the ideals he upheld. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” it added.
