The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has strongly condemned the alleged assault on a pastor in Naukhuti Town on August 24. The incident reportedly involves Akhekevi, son of Ahovi, from Kiyezhu B village, who is a cadre of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-K) Khango faction. Akhekevi reportedly brutally assaulted Rhanlamo Kikon, pastor of Yanpha Baptist Church, in what the LSU describes as a “deliberate and premeditated attack” that included a point-blank pistol firing with the intent to kill, without any definite reason.

In a statement, the LSU expressed deep concern and vehemently condemned the “abhorrent act,” emphasizing that it not only violates the fundamental rights and dignity of the victim but also reflects a grave disregard for the well-being of a spiritual leader. “Every individual deserves to live in an environment free from fear, exploitation, and harm,” the LSU stated, adding that any form of abuse against one is utterly reprehensive.

The LSU has demanded that the concerned authorities take the issue on a serious note and award a befitting punishment to the culprit at the earliest. Additionally, the LSU called for measures to be put in place to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

In an appeal to the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) faction, the LSU urged the group not to enroll vis-a-vas disown such unpatriotic and mentally ill Anti-Naga individuals who are self-vested in act of terrorism and doesn’t understand the notion of ‘Nagaland for Christ’ in its crusade for self-determination.

The LSU further called on the faction to “stoutly condemn the barbaric act” and enforce policies to eradicate such heinous deeds by a cadre in the name of the government. The LSU noted that such behaviors tarnish the image of the faction in its endeavor to sing the spirit of Naga Nationalism and warned that the office will be left with no other option but to move non-cooperation towards the NSCN/GPRN (Khango).

The LSU also expressed its “deepest solidarity and empathy” to Rhanlamo Kikon and his family during this distressing period, pledging unwavering support in their pursuit of justice and recovery from the trauma inflicted. The union urged all right-thinking citizens to join in condemning this atrocity and to demand accountability from those responsible.
