The NSCN-K (Khango) has announced new regulations for nightlife in Dimapur, directing all nightclubs, pubs, lounges, restaurants, hotels, and discotheques to close by 10 PM. This measure has been introduced “in the larger interest of the common people,” as stated in a recent press communiqué from the group.

The directive follows numerous complaints from the general public and various civil society organizations (CSOs) regarding the late-night operations of such establishments, which have been linked to bootlegging and “related immoral activities.” The NSCN/GPRN expressed dismay over what it termed the “lackadaisical attitude” of the state government and security forces in addressing these “illegal activities.” The group also raised concerns about the presence of underage boys and girls, particularly students in uniform, in establishments engaged in immoral practices.

“The NSCN/GPRN (K) will monitor regularly for the aforementioned activities,” the communiqué noted, urging cooperation from all concerned parties.

In addition to the nightlife regulations, the NSCN (Khango) has imposed a total ban on the sale and use of all types of firecrackers in and around Dimapur during the upcoming festive season, effective immediately.

It said that the decision to ban firecrackers was taken after taking serious note of harmful effects of firecrackers, including air and noise pollution and other health hazards, besides causing disturbance to students whose final examination are approaching.
Failure to abide by the directive, the NSCN- K (Khango) cautioned that it will initiate stern action against the defaulters.
