The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a four-day weather outlook for all districts from September 19 to 22, advising the public to remain alert during thunderstorms and periods of rainfall.
On September 19, thunderstorms and lightning with light rain are expected in Kohima, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto. Chumoukedima, Meluri and Niuland may experience thunderstorms and lightning, while light rain is expected in Longleng and Mokokchung. Overcast conditions are likely in Dimapur, while no active weather warning has been issued for Kiphire.
On September 20, thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rain are forecast for Kohima, Mon, Noklak, Tseminyu, Tuensang and Zunheboto. Other districts may experience thunderstorms with light rain, while Kiphire and Meluri have no active weather warning.
On September 21, light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in several districts, with cloudy or partly cloudy conditions likely in Mokokchung and Niuland.
September 22 has the highest alert. Mokokchung and Wokha are expected to receive thunderstorms and lightning with moderate to heavy rain. An alert has also been issued for several districts for thunderstorms with light to moderate rain.
The four-day cumulative rainfall outlook indicates the highest rainfall in Mokokchung at 61.91 mm, followed by Mon at 59.40 mm and Wokha at 57.93 mm.
NSDMA advised residents to monitor updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and NSDMA Weather Portal and follow official advisories.
