Kohima, 18 December (MTNews): In the aftermath of a tragic gunfight in Manipur’s Noney district, where two cadres from Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and one cadre from NSCN-IM lost their lives, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has strongly condemned the incident. The Federation has issued a press release, calling for peace, unity, and a collective effort to ensure the well-being of the community.
According to the federation, the clash that occurred in the forest area near Lamdangmei village on 18 December 2023 marks the second such incident within a fortnight involving ZUF and NSCN-IM. Expressing deep concern, the NSF emphasized that the recent clash has “once again escalated fears and created a sense of insecurity among the innocent public and threatens the hard-earned “peace and stability” in the Naga homeland.
In a joint statement, NSF’s President Medovi Rhi and General Secretary Chumben Khuvung stressed the critical need for peaceful coexistence and harmony, underlining that it is essential for a prosperous future for the Naga people. The leaders urged all political groups to respect the existence of each entity and prioritize dialogue, understanding, and the community’s well-being during these challenging times.
“The path forward involves not only political discussions but also building bridges of trust and understanding among all stakeholders,” stated the NSF, emphasizing the importance of a collective effort.
