Chumoukedima, 4 November (MTNews): Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) organized a combined graduation program for DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana) at Noune Resort, Seithekema-A Village, Chumoukedima, on November 4, 2023, under the theme ‘Transforming rural youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce.’

Imtimenla, Joint Secretary, RD & Mission Director at NSRLM, stated in her keynote address that since its inception, 6716 rural youths have been trained through the program, and 4050 youths have secured job placements in different parts of the country. Notably, 10-15% of their earnings go directly to rural households.

Trained youths have also secured international placements in the UK, Italy, Germany, and Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar. She highlighted that with DDU-GKY version 2 on the horizon, NSRLM will identify and develop courses that will better facilitate foreign placements in the future.

Special Guest, Minister RD& SIRD, Metsubo Jamir congratulated DDU-GKY graduates, highlighting their readiness for job placements. He praised the program for steering youths toward sustainable livelihoods beyond government jobs.

Jamir mentioned that in today’s rapidly changing global landscape, it has become more important than ever to ensure the workforce is adequately prepared to meet the demands and challenges posed by new technologies and industries.

He acknowledged graduates who combined educational qualifications with alternate skills, serving as role models for educated but unemployed youths. Jamir urged those with placements to inspire others to explore alternative skills and represent the state’s culture with integrity, expanding opportunities for future job seekers.

The Minister handed over the offer letters to the trainees.

  1. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year
    old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
    There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
    She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had
    to tell someone!
