Kohima, 12 November (MTNews): The Inter-Collegiate selection trial for Men’s Football was held at Nagaland University, Kohima campus, from the 9th to the 11th of November 2023. Organized by the Department of Sports, Nagaland University, the trial began with a briefing from Mesanguto Meru, Assistant Director of Sports at Nagaland University. Students from various colleges participated in the selection trial, with 16 players and 2 reserved players ultimately chosen to represent Nagaland University by Watimenba Longchar, the Football Coach of Nagaland University.

The selected players are Bunty Singh (Kohima Science College), Khoazang (Unity College), Satminlal Haolai, Alumong, Vimegolie, M Chingom Konyak (Dimapur Government College), Nikaho Y Tamang (Tetso College), Wangkap Konyak, Manpu Konyak, Chenbong H Konyak, Lokivi, Bharat Rai (Sakus Mission College), Wangtin (NU, Lumami), Wanglem (NU, Meriema), Yhoto Lohe (Kohima College), Thangboi Haokip (Modern College). The reserved players are Metsubo (Jubilee Memorial College) and Neichuvikho (Modern College).

The selected team will represent Nagaland University in the North East Zone Tournament scheduled to be held at Royal Global University, Guwahati, from the 13th to the 17th of December 2023. The NU Team is set to depart for Guwahati for the tournament on the 11th of December 2023, led by Mesanguto Meru (ADS as Team Manager) and Watimenba Longchar (NU football Coach as Team Coach).
