The second edition of the Nagaland Potato Festival was held at the Jakhama Local Ground, Kohima, under the theme “Celebrating the Organic Products of Nagaland” on 9th May 2025. The event aimed to promote organic potato cultivation across the state while providing a platform for local entrepreneurs and creating economic opportunities for village communities.

More than a hundred stalls were set up by local entrepreneurs from the Southern Angami region, along with participants from Kiphire and Wokha districts. The Agriculture Department also took part, showcasing innovations and support for sustainable farming practices.

Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, as the special guest, addressed the gathering and lauded the efforts of farmers and stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to bring recognition to Nagaland’s organic produce.

He emphasised the importance of rural development, stating, “If our villagers are prosperous, Nagaland will be prosperous. If our villagers are healthy, Nagaland will be healthy. If our villagers have a livelihood, then the people of the state will have a livelihood.”

The festival not only highlighted the growing organic farming movement in Nagaland but also underscored the vital role of grassroots entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and self-sufficiency across the state.
