Celebrating poetry’s unique ability to capture the creative spirit of the human mind, PenThrill Publication House observed World Poetry Day on March 21 at The Book Home, Billy Graham Road, Kohima.

The event featured ten poets from Nagaland, including Sofia Livimi Swu, Chonjani, Abigail Tepa, Roselyn Miachieo, Adenuo Shirat Luikham, Emisenla Jamir, Keren Rose, Agnes Tepa, T. Keditsu, and Vishü Rita Krocha. Sharing their love for poetry, these poets read their original works, while 4-year-old Neno Shupao captivated the audience with a special performance.

A Japanese guest, Aimi Hasebe, graced the occasion and also read a poem in Japanese.

During the event, PenThrill Publisher Vishü Rita Krocha shared that the primary objective of organizing the gathering was to foster appreciation among poets and celebrate their works—an essential step in building a stronger literary ecosystem in the state.

She also revealed that, in honor of World Poetry Day, two books—Whimsical Poems for Kids and Alphabet Poems by Sofia Livimi Swu—have been included in the list of recommended poetry books for children by the Parag Initiative of Tata Trusts.

Notably, Sofia Livimi Swu is the youngest published author from Nagaland, with four books to her credit. She made her debut as an author at the age of seven.

On the occasion of World Poetry Day, PenThrill Publication House also announced a new book project tentatively titled Poetry of Our Times – The Homeland Series. Scheduled for release on World Poetry Day 2026, the collection will feature poems from various places across Nagaland, exploring one’s native land and the deep connection between place and people.
