The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in Mon district due to the recent landslides and extended its solidarity to the residents of Tuli, who continue to face severe hardships following widespread flooding.
In a statement, the apex Ao youth body conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the natural calamities, describing the tragedy as a painful reminder of the devastating impact of extreme weather events.
AKM also expressed concern over the situation in Tuli, where flooding has inundated homes, damaged infrastructure, destroyed crops and livelihoods, and displaced several families.
Stressing the importance of collective support during times of crisis, the organisation said natural disasters underscore the need for compassion, generosity and unity among communities.
The organisation also acknowledged the efforts of the district administrations, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), rescue and emergency personnel, security forces, medical teams, volunteers, civil society organisations, churches and individuals involved in rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations.
Further, AKM urged the concerned authorities to ensure that relief and rehabilitation measures are implemented promptly, transparently and efficiently so that all affected families receive timely assistance.
Reaffirming its solidarity with the affected communities, the organisation prayed for the eternal peace of those who lost their lives, the speedy recovery of the injured, the safety of those still at risk and the early restoration of normalcy in the affected areas.
