Dimapur, 2 August (MTNews): The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) said that it is ‘perturbed and pained’ to hear the news of the reported abduction of 4 members of the NSCN-R (Akato) and the subsequent death of a Deputy Kilonser while in the custody of NSCN (IM) in Tizit on 31 July. Even as details are still emerging, the FNR expressed deep sadness over the incident and made a strong call to all concerned to cease all forms of violence with immediate resolve.
The FNR once again emphasized the importance of camaraderie and listening to one another within the Naga community. In a press release, the FNR reminded the Naga Political Groups to honor the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR) from 13 June 2009, which was recently reaffirmed by the NNPGs and the NSCN-IM on 14 September 2022 and garnered support from Naga apex organizations and the Church on 8 October 2022 with a strong commitment to uphold it “in letter and in spirit.”
Naga apex organizations and the Church had issued an urgent call to abstain from succumbing to hatred and innuendos of any kind, and to remain clear and free of violence in all aspects, including written words, mythmaking, propagating falsehoods, discrimination against specific groups, or causing physical harm.
In light of these events, the FNR appealed to all Naga Political Groups and the Naga citizens to shun all forms of violence with immediate effect.
“We call upon all not to expose one’s weakness by any orders of justification and rationalization. Nagas have become immune to such tactics. Let us show our strength by admitting our finitude. FNR expects all to follow suit in order to move ahead which is absolutely the need of the hour!” the FNR added.
