As India’s unemployment rate increased to 7.8 per cent in March 2023 which, according to CMIE data, marked a three-month high and indicated a decline in the country’s labor market conditions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today, via video conferencing distributed over 71000 Appointment Letters in 45 locations across the country in the 5th Edition of Rozgar Mela.

 

 

According to a PIB report, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik handed over Appointment Letters to 321 new recruits from Northeast India in Dimapur, Nagaland.

 

52 youths from Nagaland also received their Appointment Letters. The event was hosted by the Office of the Postmaster General, Northeast Region-II, Dimapur.

 

The new recruits, selected from across the country, according to the report will join various positions and posts like Gramin Dak Sevaks, Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk, Junior clerk-cum-Typist, Junior Accounts Clerk, Assistant Section Officer, Tax Assistants, Inspectors, and Nursing Officers among others.

 

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Pratima Bhoumik said it was a memorable day as 321 youths in the region got the opportunity to go forward in their life towards fulfilling their goals.

 

The Union Minister said that Rozgar Mela is a step towards fulfillment of the commitment of the Prime Minister to accord highest priority to employment generation. She said Prime Minister Modi envisioned that employment will be given to the youths of the country in a systematic way.

 

Expressing her happiness that there were 67 girls among the 321 appointees today, the MoS said Prime Minister Modi has been making efforts to uplift the status of women in the country by providing different schemes and called on the women to avail these schemes for their benefits.

 

She lauded the people of Nagaland for electing two women to the State Legislative Assembly in the recent election, citing this as a good example of women empowerment. While stating that getting a government job should not be the sole aim, the Union Minister called on the women to venture into the field of entrepreneurship by taking the Start-Up schemes.

 

The Union Minister stated that in 2014, there were less than 10 thousand Start-Ups, but today there are 90 thousand. She said the Start-Up India initiative has not only enabled the youth to nurture their innovation and stand on their own feet but also actively contribute towards the growth of India.

 

Pratima Bhoumik said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Northeast region has made rapid strides in infrastructure development such as Airports, Railways, Roads and education among others.

 

Emphasizing that more developments brings more job opportunities, she expressed the hope that many more Appointment Letters will be handed to the youths of the region in the future Rozgar Melas.

 

The Union Minister further informed that the newly inducted appointees will also get an opportunity to train themselves through Karmayogi Prarambh, which is an online orientation course for all new appointees in various Government departments. She said the training will familiarize the new appointees about the nature and system of their job for better performance. The Union Minister urged the new recruits to be sincere and give their best services in serving the nation.
