Kohima Police have apprehended the prime suspect in the October 31 armed robbery at the State Bank of India (SBI) Chedema Branch. The accused, identified as Vitoulu Domeh (35), surrendered himself at the North Police Station following an intensive manhunt operation.
In a statement, the Kohima Police said that “the sustained pressure applied by the team left the suspect with no escape route, compelling him to surrender.”
“The accused, who had terrorized bank staff using a pistol and a body-worn explosive device, was identified and pursued based on credible intelligence and public support,” Kohima Police stated.
“His surrender is a direct result of the unwavering resolve of the Kohima Police to bring perpetrators to justice,” the statement added.
Kohima Police also said the investigation is ongoing to “uncover all facets of this case” and expressed gratitude to the public and the media for their assistance, adding that the operation “sends a clear message that Kohima is a no-go zone for crime.”
