Mokokchung, November 30 (MTNews): The Urban Development Department (UDD) has finally released the amount sanctioned for repairing the debilitated hospital road in Mokokchung town.

A pickup truck is seen here parked in the middle of the debilitated hospital road after its leaf spring was broken due to the poor road condition while a two wheeler rider is seen struggling with his scooter after losing balance.

This information was conveyed by the UDD to the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung today. Though the UDD did not mention the amount of money released, it is believed that the “required amount” released is Rs.1.07 crore as announced by the Chief Minister of Nagaland earlier.

“The Government has released the required amount for the work of ‘Improvement of road from Artang junction to Police point via IMDH’,” the UDD wrote.

Further, it was also mentioned that the work will commence once all the formalities are completed by the Urban Engineering Wing under UDD.

The department has also asked the DC to intimate the Mokokchung based civil society organizations and all concerned.

It may be mentioned here that four youth organizations of Mokokchung town, supported by others, had on Tuesday announced that they would impose total blockade on movement of vehicles along the said road after their appeals to the government to repair the road did not yield any positive response from the concerned authorities.
