Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met with top central leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday, April 13. Rio was accompanied by Deputy CM Y Patton, United Democratic Alliance Chairman TR Zeliang and recently elected Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland, S Phangnon Konyak.

 

Rio took to Twitter to inform that the delegation had a fruitful meeting with the PM and thanked him for his constant support for Nagaland and its citizens. It is reported that the Nagaland delegation led by Rio asked the prime minister to expedite the process of solution to the Naga political issue during their meeting. No official statement was made available till the time of filing this report, however.

 

In separate updates, Rio also informed that they called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, Atomic Energy and Space. Rio thanked Singh for “always being supportive and helpful in further strengthening the development of Nagaland.” He also thanked Shah for “his constant support to Nagaland in our collective endeavor to serve the people.”
