The Youth Department of Sümi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) successfully hosted an Open Marathon Race on 22nd March 2025 to commemorate the church’s centenary year.

The event was officially flagged off by Dr. L. Botoholi Yeptho, Associate Pastor of SBCK, who shared a Scripture reading, offered a prayer of blessing over the participants, and inaugurated the race.

The marathon began at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, and concluded at the Science College Ground in Jotsoma.

A total of 237 runners participated in the event, comprising 194 male and 43 female athletes. Competitors from Manipur, Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Noklak, Phek, Kigwema, Kohima, and Zunheboto took part in the race.

In the women’s category, Tsuchoi T. from Noklak emerged as the champion, followed by Songmo P. from Noklak in second place and Niansai T., also from Noklak, in third place.

In the men’s category, Wede T. Mero from Phek secured first place, while Thotngacheirin Humphun Luiyi from Imphal, Manipur, claimed second, and Shiangjiu T. from Noklak finished third.

During the prize distribution ceremony, three lucky participants — Keneiguto Solo, Kavi Chophi, and Renapomo T. Tsanglao — were awarded gift hampers of premium product supplements sponsored by Protein Planet India.

The winners in both the men’s and women’s categories received certificates and cash prizes of Rs 20,000 for first place, Rs 15,000 for second place, and Rs 10,000 for third place.

The event was supported by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society, Mt. Olive College Kohima, Blood Donors Association Nagaland, and Protein Planet India.
