Kohima, 13 June (MTNews): The meritorious students of government schools were honored by the Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, in a prestigious event held on 13 June at the Morung Conference Hall, Directorate of School Education, Kohima.

Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary of the Department of School Education and SCERT, extended her congratulations to the students and teachers of schools that achieved a 100% pass rate and to the students who obtained outstanding results in various subjects. Angami attributed the success of government schools to the collective efforts of students, teachers, and parents. She expressed her appreciation for the teachers, heads of institutes, heads of schools, and parents for their support, guidance, and nurturing of the students.

 

Despite challenges such as a shortage of teachers and infrastructure, government schools have produced exceptional students who excel in various fields, showcasing that government students are on par with their private school counterparts. Angami emphasized that through the collaboration of students, teachers, parents, and officials of the Directorate of School Education, government schools can be recognized as centers of excellence.

 

Acknowledging the immense efforts put in by the teachers in nurturing, instructing, and guiding the students, Angami expressed her gratitude and encouraged them to strive harder in the future. She also urged other schools to replicate these success stories.

 

During the event, the Nagaland Government School Students Meritorious Award (NGSSMA) was presented to three outstanding High School Leaving Certificate 2023 students from government schools: Rahul Roy from Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima; Monika from Government High School, Khulazu Basa; and Arenchetla from Government High School, Khar.

 

Additionally, NGSSMA was awarded to the top three students in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Arts) category: Watisangla from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung (secured the Top 5 position), Kilenkala from Government Higher Secondary School, Tuli (secured Top 9 position), and Kikogwamle from Government Higher Secondary School, Jalukie (secured Top 10 position) in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Arts) Examination, 2023.

 

Certificates of Merit were also presented to 29 HSLC government schools and 3 HSSLC government schools that achieved a 100% pass rate in the recently declared HSLC and HSLC Examination 2023.

 

During the event, Longrimendang, Teacher In-Charge at Government High School, Mangmetong, Mokokchung, and Supongtola Aier, Vice Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Naginimora, Mon, shared best practices from their respective schools.

 

NGSSMA is an award established by the Government of Nagaland in 2018-2019 to recognize government school students who excel in their respective board examinations at the Primary, Elementary, and Secondary Levels. In 2023, the top three performing government school students in the HSLC and HSSLC categories received certificates of merit and a cash award of Rs. 30,000/-, Rs. 20,000/-, and Rs. 10,000/-, respectively.

 

The program was chaired by Kevitsiano Luho, Assistant Director of DoSE, and closing remarks were given by Avino Rase, Deputy Director of DoSE. Special songs were presented by students from Rüzhü
