A Slow Loris was discovered trapped in a net at the Jubilee Memorial College Basketball Court on Saturday, 11 May. Promptly informed, the Mokokchung Forest Division swiftly intervened to rescue the primate. Following its rescue, the Loris was released into the Minkong forest, where it eagerly ascended a tree, embracing its newfound freedom.

In another sighting of the Slow Loris in Mokokchung on Friday, 10 May, in the Amenyong sector of Khensa village at approximately 9:30 am, residents saw a Slow Loris maneuvering between the wires of electric poles. Unfortunately, the primate was accidentally electrocuted to death. There have been several reports of sightings of Slow Loris in Mokokchung during recent times.

Slow lorises are listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List and are threatened with extinction due to growing demand in the exotic pet trade and traditional medicine.
