Officials from the Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex in Niuland on Friday. The inspection team, led by Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE) Er. Sungtiba Amer, was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, administrative officers, engineers, and the contractor responsible for the project.

During the visit, Er. Amer noted that progress on the office complex has been slow, primarily due to issues related to site allotment and the shifting of high-tension (HT) power lines. He explained that these challenges have contributed to delays, but stressed that the project had already received adequate financial support under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.
“The project has the financial backing it needs—therefore, we expect the contractor to accelerate the pace of construction without further delay,” Er. Amer said, highlighting the importance of moving forward on the long-pending project.
In addition to the office complex, the inspection team also visited the flat-type administrative residential building, which is nearing completion. The building is designed to house administrative officers stationed in the district.
Er. Amer expressed satisfaction with the work’s quality and pace but urged the contractor to complete the project within the next three months. He further mentioned that the necessary funding for the residential building had already been fully allocated under the State Earmarked fund.
Both projects are part of the broader infrastructure development plan by the General Administration Department aimed at strengthening district-level governance in Nagaland. As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure timely delivery of public infrastructure, CAWD continues to conduct district-wide inspections to uphold transparency and accountability in public works.
