The much-anticipated ‘Stag Global Throttle Thrust V’ is set to roar back to life, flagging off at 9:00 am on the 3rd of November 2023 in Ungma village, Mokokchung. This fifth edition of Throttle Thrust, a flagship motorsport event organized by the Spearhead Motorsport Initiative, is making a comeback after a three-year break, with the last installment held in 2019. It is a two-day event and will culminate on November 4.
The event promises high-octane action and heart-pounding excitement, and it’s all in honor of a revered team member, the late Imtimayang Jamir. The Chairman of the Ungma Village Council will do the honors by flagging off this adrenaline-pumping thriller at Dikhu Road, Mejati Junction, Ungma.
With participants hailing from various corners of Nagaland, including Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, and Wokha, the race is expected to showcase some of the state’s finest motorsport talents. Throttle Thrust V offers a unique racing experience, blending the super-sprint and hill climb formats to keep both racers and spectators on the edge of their seats.
The competition is divided into three categories: Below 1300 cc, SUV, and an open category. And the stakes are high, with a substantial prize pool of up to Rs 3.5 lakhs on the line, motivating racers to give it their all.
Furthermore, the Stag Global Throttle Thrust V is not just a standalone racing event; it also doubles as the third round of the Northeast Championship. This championship crowns the Northeast’s finest racer, determined by their performance across various motorsport events in the region.
As the engines rev up and the rubber meets the road, all eyes will be on Ungma village, Mokokchung, as the Throttle Thrust V promises to be a celebration of speed, skill, and the enduring spirit of motorsport in Nagaland. With a legacy that spans years, it’s not just a race; it’s a testament to the unwavering passion for motorsport in the region.
Spearhead Motorsport Initiative, formed in the year 2014 by a group of likeminded citizens of Mokokchung, aims to promote motorsport activities in the state of Nagaland. It envisages economic growth of the state and Mokokchung in particular by creating job opportunities for the youth in the field of tourism and the automobile sector through motorsport thereby attracting investors to Nagaland.
