The State Drugs Control Administration (SDCA), under the Department of Health & Family Welfare, has launched a statewide inspection campaign to combat illegal sales of restricted drugs, including Codeine Based Syrup (CBS) and psychotropic substances. This initiative aligns with the State Government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign, aimed at addressing the misuse and abuse of pharmaceutical products by young people.
The SDCA has issued a notification restricting the sale of certain narcotic and psychotropic drugs, despite the absence of specific legal provisions under the Drugs and Cosmetic Act, 1940. The Authority is actively enforcing this notification and taking stringent actions against licensed pharmacies involved in illegal activities.
Recently, the SDCA has taken action against several licensed pharmacies for their involvement in unauthorized drug sales. The following pharmacies have had their licenses canceled or suspended:
· M/s. Shanaz Pharma & Surgicals, License No. 736(N)/737(N), GS Road, Dimapur – License Cancelled
