The Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), Government of Nagaland, held a consultative meeting with representatives and management from various hospitality establishments on May 7 at the Centre of Excellence for Music and Arts (CEMA), Kohima.

The meeting was organised with the objective of exploring collaborative avenues for the promotion and support of Naga musicians across hospitality establishments in the state.
Representatives from Food Balance, D Café, Ooopar Resto, The Kisama House, Amaris, De Oriental, Hotel D Palazzo, Dejavu, The High Table, The Mirage, Ete Coffee, La Colline Resort, Garrison Hill Centre Café and Switch attended the meeting.
During the meeting, discussions focused on creating more opportunities and performance platforms for local artistes while strengthening the overall music ecosystem through meaningful partnerships between TaFMA and stakeholders from the hospitality sector.
TaFMA chairman Theja Meru highlighted the important role hospitality establishments can play in promoting live music culture and supporting homegrown talent, while also enhancing the cultural and experiential atmosphere for patrons.
He also emphasised the importance of supporting local musicians registered with the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) and encouraged establishments to actively engage and collaborate with registered Naga artistes.
The interaction also provided an opportunity for participating establishments to share their perspectives, expectations and suggestions regarding the practical aspects of hosting and promoting live music performances within their respective spaces.
Meru expressed appreciation to all the establishments and representatives who attended the meeting and acknowledged their willingness to engage in constructive discussions aimed at supporting homegrown musicians and strengthening Nagaland’s creative industry.
He further stated that collaborative initiatives of this nature are essential toward building a sustainable and vibrant music culture in the state.
