The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Zunheboto, under Mission Vatsalya, Department of Social Welfare, organized a one-day awareness and sensitization programme on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and legal adoption at Lazami Baptist Church on May 7, 2026.
District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Ruzonuo Rita Aye sensitized participants on provisions and penalties under child marriage laws, reporting mechanisms under the POCSO Act, and legal adoption procedures under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
The program aimed to strengthen awareness on child protection laws and promote the welfare and safety of children.
The event was chaired by Women Pastor Heili of Lazami Baptist Church.
