EBRC under Tzurangkong range in protest over inadequate teachers
Mokokchung, October 25 (MTNews): The Tzurangkong Students’ Conference’s (TKM) 15-day ultimatum to the Principal Director of the Department of School Education Nagaland expired on Monday, October 24 yielding no response from the department concerned. In protest against the department’s failure to respond to the student body’s demand for the deployment of an adequate number of teachers in schools under Tzurangkong range, the Tzurangkong Students’ Conference has decided to close all schools and the Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC) under their jurisdiction on Tuesday, October 25 for an indefinite period until their demands are met.
It may be mentioned that on October 10, the students’ union issued a 15-day ultimatum demanding that adequate teachers be deployed in schools within the Tzurangkong range by October 25, failing which “appropriate steps shall be initiated.”
Earlier in the day on Tuesday, students from various government schools in the Tzurangkong range were seen agitating during class hours, holding placards that read, “We want teachers,” “Fake Promises,” “We want quality education,” and so on.
The president of TKM also mentioned that their mode of protest may be altered if no positive response is given by the concerned department.
