Changki, 18 March (MTNews): A man and a two to three-year-old boy died in a ghastly truck accident that occurred on Thursday, 16 March near Changki village, Mokokchung.

 

The truck bearing registration number AS-03-CC 4134 met with the accident at NH-702 D near Changki village where the vehicle rolled down to a deep gorge (approx. 200 feet) below the road. The ill-fated truck was on fire which was brought under control by the rescue party.

 

According to a press release from Addl Superintendent of Police & PRO, the deceased were unable to be identified because the dead bodies and human body parts were charred beyond recognition.

 

It was also reported that one injured person was shifted to hospital for medical treatment. On enquiry, it was found that the ill-fated truck was coming from Dimapur and proceeding towards Tuensang loaded with FCI rice. It was further learnt upon inquiry that one male and one woman along with a child had boarded the truck from Rangajan, District Golaghat, Assam.

 

From the accident site, the police informed that along with the charred body, a burnt human liver was also recovered. In this connection, a case has been registered at Mangkolemba Police Station and is under investigation.

 

After the completion of all legal formalities, the police informed that the dead bodies and burnt human parts were shifted to District Hospital Mokokchung Morgue for Post-Mortem examination/identification.
