Mokokchung, 22 March (MTNews): Following the allegation by two RTI activists that the Land Resources Department has established a new village named Tsudiyim under Mokokchung District and provided a huge amount of money by enlisting beneficiaries’ names randomly, the department in a rejoinder clarified that “Tsudiyim was not a village, but the name of watershed bearing code no. 3B3D1d2d, which was taken up under the watershed program.”

According to the department, the project has been completed and works have officially been closed as per the closure protocol of the program.

However, the RTI activists in a rejoinder argued that the Department in its RTI replies has listed almost all the villages under Mokokchung district in the ‘Name of the Village’ category, where they said Tsudiyim has been mentioned 36 times.

The activists further pointed out that Tsudiyim was not mentioned even once in the ‘Name of the Project’ or ‘Project name’ category.

“Besides, the villages listed in the ‘Name of the Village’ category are all genuine except Tsudiyim,” the activists argued.

Further, the activists highlighted how in the beneficiaries list of 2019-20 at Tsudiyim, almost all the beneficiaries’ names were “identical to a particular village known to us, but they are not aware of the amount mentioned against their name or have they received any money or had carried out any activities.”

“But since many names are identical in many Ao villages this is not a big issue. However, DPO Mokokchung in the rejoinder states that Tsudiyim is a project under the Watershed Program. If Tsudiyim is a project, then DPO Mokokchung needs to openly declare the location of the project and the name of the village to clear the doubt in the people’s mind,” the activists stated.

They further added that they would like to take the privilege to go for spot verification of the activities conducted at Tsudiyim in the year 2019-20 such as gully plug, half-moon terracing, contour trenching and such other activities.
