The Viksit Krishi Sampark Abhiyan (VKSA) campaign, launched by the Government of India through the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), continues to make significant progress in Mokokchung district. Out of the scheduled 12-day campaign, four days have been successfully completed, covering 35 villages and reaching more than 2,500 farmers and rural stakeholders, stated an update received here from KVK.

The campaign, aimed at strengthening the farmer-scientist interface and spreading awareness about various government schemes, has been received with great enthusiasm across the villages. Farmers have shown keen interest in learning about sustainable agricultural practices, soil health management, integrated farming systems, and natural farming.
Field-level teams, comprising Subject Matter Specialists (SMS) from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mokokchung, scientists from ICAR, and officers from the Agriculture and Allied departments, have been conducting daily outreach activities. These include interactive technical sessions, demonstration programs, distribution of educational materials, and one-on-one farmer interactions.
According to Dr Keviletsu Khate, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Mokokchung, “The participation and engagement from the farming community have been extremely encouraging. Farmers are not just attending the programs but are actively asking questions and seeking guidance on implementing improved agricultural practices.”

As part of the campaign, awareness is also being raised about the harmful effects of indiscriminate chemical use in farming. Farmers are being encouraged to adopt eco-friendly alternatives such as composting household waste for manure and practicing crop diversification.
The VKSA campaign in Mokokchung is scheduled to continue over the next eight days, aiming to cover all villages in the district and ensure that vital agricultural information and benefits of government schemes reach every farmer. This massive outreach initiative aligns with the national goal of empowering 1.5 crore farmers across the country and building a Viksit Bharat through sustainable, inclusive, and technology-driven agricultural development.
