Wokha, 27 May (MTNews): Wokha District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) convened a meeting on May 27, 2024, at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall to assess the district’s preparedness for the monsoon season.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ranjan, the meeting emphasized the need for departments to monitor road conditions in their respective areas diligently. They were instructed to promptly address any issues and ensure timely repairs and maintenance in case of emergencies. Additionally, the Department of NH and PWD (Road & Bridges) was directed to ensure all necessary machinery is ready for immediate deployment in case of emergencies. The clearance of drainages and culverts was also prioritized.

All line departments were urged to submit damage reports caused by recent natural disasters promptly for further submission to higher authorities.

Considering the impending monsoon season and the potential for floods, landslides, and other disasters, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of preparedness among all departments.

The Assistant Director of Food & Civil Supplies, Wokha, provided an update on the availability of food grains, essential commodities, fuel, and LPG. Similarly, the Chief Medical Officer, Wokha, presented information on the availability of medicines and essential drugs.

Regarding the status of the road along National Highway-2, the Executive Engineer of the National Highway informed attendees that construction work on culverts, retaining walls, and pothole filling is currently underway.
