Best performing ASHAs, Surveillance Workers felicitated
Mokokchung, 25 April (MTNews): World Malaria Day was observed on 25 April 2024 at the CMO Conference Hall in Mokokchung, under the theme ‘Accelerating the Fight against Malaria for a More Equitable World’.
Speaking at the program, Chumlamo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, lauded the medical department and the District Vector Borne Disease Control Program for their efforts and accomplishments in the district. Addressing the medical team, he said, “We are in a profession where we are expected to be gods in our field of work and perform miracles.” He encouraged the team not to succumb to the burden of high expectations and urged them to work diligently towards their goals.
He also commended the medical fraternity for their service to the people, both within and outside the district. He encouraged them to provide their valuable services, especially to the less privileged areas lacking proper medical facilities, asserting that their goals and achievements would only be complete after doing so.
During the program, two best performing ASHAs, Imtinungla and Yashikumla, and two best Surveillance Workers, Chubayapang and Lanuakum, were felicitated.
Earlier, the keynote address was delivered by Imkumongba Nungtanger, District Vector Borne Disease (DVBD) Consultant. He presented the current status of malaria in the district, mentioning that there have been no malaria cases since 2019. He also discussed the IEC/BCC activities for malaria prevention, the national framework for malaria elimination, and the importance of case control in the district.
The program was chaired by John Ato, LDA NVBDCP, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Khenito, Assistant Malaria Officer. A special song was performed by Liju, The Stage Winner 2021.
