Pungro, 20 March (MTNews): Christian School, Pungro, Kiphire district, the Community Health Centre (CHC) Pungro, under the direction of dental surgeon Dr. Weri Mero, hosted an oral health awareness camp in honor of “World Oral Health Day 2024” with the theme “A happy mouth is a happy body” on 19 March. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Kiphire in a press statement mentioned that, in addition to dental examinations, fluoride treatments to prevent cavities, tooth extractions, and temporary fillings, many patients were examined during the awareness camp.
Dr Mero delivered a presentation on dental hygiene during the camp, emphasizing its significance in maintaining overall health. He also highlighted the negative impacts of using tobacco products, especially in relation to smoking and chewing gutkha. The participants were also instructed on suitable brushing procedures by the medical staff.
According to the CMO’s office, the oral health camp aimed to educate the public and schools about the importance of maintaining good dental hygiene and oral health, with the understanding that gum disease, in particular, can increase the risk of major health issues.
