Mokokchung, 16 April (MTNews): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has expressed deep concern over the possibility of election manipulation by the state machinery. It feared that the “election will be stolen by the might of the state machinery”.
Expressing anxiety, the RPP said that the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) team has submitted a list of constituencies to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, citing where probable booth capturing might take place.
Contrasting the JP Nadda rally at the Agri Expo “where only a handful of people attended” with the Congress rally in Dimapur where “thousands of people participated,” the RPP asserted that voter sentiments are with the Congress. However, the RPP stressed that unless there’s a free and fair election on the polling day, “the NDPP will walk into the sunset with stolen victory for which it’ll be a great loss for the state.”
In response to these apprehensions, the RPP has called upon all the conscientious leaders to help prevent mockery of democracy. It specifically called upon village GBs, as custodians of Naga customary laws and traditions, to oppose the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) promised by the RSS/BJP with patriotic fervor. However, the RPP emphasized that this can only be achieved in the presence of a free and fair electoral process.
Furthermore, the RPP appealed to the Church leaders to see to it that their clarion call for clean election is implemented in letter and in spirit.
The RPP expressed confidence that the Naga people, irrespective of political colors, will rise to the occasion and ‘Save Democracy’ in the country.
