Pre-poll violence reported in Alichen

 

Mokokchung, February 25 (MTNews): A minor altercation took place between supporters of some 28 Koridang AC candidates in Alichen under Mokokchung district, on February 25 in the morning, according to the police.

 

While claiming that the morning break-out was quite minor, the police expressed their continued concern for the situation to Mokokchung Times.

 

A police official stated that although more security forces had been deployed, the situation was still volatile.

 

According to sources, the police have also detained an unconfirmed number of people who were involved in the altercation.

 

 

DC directs extensive search and seizure for licensed & unlicensed arms

 

Mokokchung, February 25 (MTNews): Following reports of various law and order incidents from 28 Koridang AC in relation to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly General Election, the Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh IAS, has ordered all licensed arms holders in the villages of 28 Koridang AC to deposit their arms and ammunitions to the nearest Police Station with immediate effect.

 

The DC has also ordered an extensive search and seizure of both licensed and unlicensed arms and ammunition as well as the arrest of those involved in all villages within the 28-Koridang AC.

 

Despite the issuance of the order, only a few arms have been verified and deposited from the 28 Koridang AC, according to the DC.
