As today marks the deadline for withdrawal of nominations for the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, six candidates from Pungro Town Council have officially withdrawn their candidacy.
The candidates who have stepped back are: K Kiutsumong from Ward No. 8; Khunselam Yimchunger from Ward No. 6; Yimkhong from Ward No. 2; K Tsalimong from Ward No. 5; T Tsumongthong Yimchunger from Ward No. 3; and Yongtsuthong from Ward No. 9.
These withdrawals follow an ultimatum issued by the Yimkhiung Tribal Council for candidates to withdraw by June 17, 2024. Notably, out of the eight candidates who initially filed nominations from Pungro Town Council, two had already withdrawn by June 17.
