Peren, November 28 (MTNews): The first Peren district inter-village/town volleyball tournament for both men and women began on November 28 at the Jalukie ‘B’ village ground, with Masangum Hiekha, president of the Jalukie Valley Youth Organization (JVYO), as the special guest. Peren District Volleyball Association (PDVA) is the organizer of the tournament.

Through this tournament, the selection for the Peren district volleyball team will be conducted. Altogether, 25 teams participated in the tournament with 15 teams in the men’s category and 10 teams in the women’s category.

 

On the inaugural day Azailong defeated Old Jalukie; Old Beisumpui beat Lalong; Deukwaram A upset Mbaupungchi and Nkialwa defeated Nkwareu in the men’s category while in the women’s category, Keningkunglwa beat Jalukie Town; Nchan defeated New Jalukie and Vongkithem downed Jalukie ‘B’.

 

At the program, the champions’ team of the first Nagaland Open Volleyball Tournament was felicitated by the District Sports Officer Peren, Asekho Talie.
