Mokokchung, 8 August (MTNews): The 30th presentation ceremony of the Mayangnokcha Awards for Academic Excellence was held at Town Hall, Mokokchung, on 8 August 2023 with Temjenmenba MLA & Advisor, Government of Nagaland, who is also the grandson of Mayangnokcha, as the Guest of Honour for the occasion.
In his address, Temjenmenba mentioned the sheer determination and efforts of Mayangnokcha to bring about change through education, which was his vision. While he acknowledged the challenges Mayangnokcha might have faced during his time, he emphasized that Mayangnokcha’s determination, single-minded focus, and vision to succeed are values that all young achievers and students should strive to emulate for success in one’s life.
He also stated that education is not limited to classroom learning alone; it also encompasses learning from parents, teachers, and predecessors about values that determine the true essence of an educated society. He challenged the young achievers and students to act as torchbearers in the contemporary world, bearing the responsibility of bringing about desired changes in society.
“Education and humbleness goes together,” he said congratulating all the achievers.
Earlier in the program, Dr Sunep Imchen, CVO, Mokokchung, and a member of MAT, addressed the gathering with a eulogy of Mayangnokcha and outlined the vision of MAT to perpetuate Mayangnokcha’s memory and works. This vision also extends to fostering a sense of purpose and destiny among people in various professions.
During the ceremony, the Youth Department of NCRC, Mokokchung, presented the theme song of MAT titled “The Educationist,” and the Master of Ceremonies was Dr Awala Temshi, Administrator of the Straightway Christian Mission Centre, Mokokchung.
The Guest of Honour presented the MAT 2023 Awards to the following recipients:
· Mayangnokcha Award for Academic Excellence was awarded to the overall topper, Khotolu Curha from Mezhur Hr. Sec. School, Kohima.
· MAT-Rockdale Award for the Subject Topper in AO (MIL) was given to Ms Zuluienla T Jamir from Queen Mary Hr. Sec. School, Mokokchung.
· MAT-YRSD Award for the Subject Topper in Social Sciences was presented to Khotolu Curha from Mezhur Hr. Sec. School, Kohima.
· MAT-TY Award for the Subject Topper in Science was granted to Thsatangpa Santam from Loyola Hr. Sec. School, Kiphire.
· MAT-EFoM Award for the Subject Topper in Mathematics was awarded to Mulungsula Changkiri from Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur.
· MAT-CEC Award for the Subject Topper in English was given to Mulungsula Changkiri from Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur.
· MAT-Lenjeter Award for the Subject topper in Environmental Studies was presented to Aliu T from St. John’s Hr. Sec. School, Tuensang.
