Changtongya, February 27 (MTNews): With the aim to preserve mother language, the Arju Tsüki-Bachelors’ Dormitory, Changtongya, have released an Ao Naga alphabet chart titled, “Ao ABCD Nüngjalok”. The chart, according to the publisher, also has transcriptions on it making it easy for the readers to pronounce the words. Sentirenba, Founder and Director, Arju Tsüki-Bachelors’ Dormitory, said that the alphabet chart was released on February 23.
“With the objective to do away with VIP culture, there was no chief guest in this programme,” he informed. He also said that, earlier while inaugurating Nüngo Reju (morung) and indigenous wild fruits farm in 2019, “no special chief guests were invited for the inaugural function and the same will be practiced in future, as this organization works and maintain to be a self-reliant group.”
While acknowledging the Ao Senden Literature Board (ASLB) for granting them to publish the chart after an in-depth readthrough and corrections, Sentirenba said that this will help in the progress of preserving the Ao language.
He also said that the bird Fifi, the flower Quishinaro and X-ray were added in the chart as it is from the Ao textbooks published by ASLB(2009).
“It is hoped that this will benefit especially the children in learning Ao language,” said Sentirenba on behalf of the editorial board of the NGO.
