Kohima, March 17 (MTNews): The Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland awarded cash awards to the meritorious sportspersons for the year 2019- 202 at an award ceremony held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on 17th March 2022.

 

Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports, Wezope Kenye, who was the special guest, stated that awards are a special way to encourage performance and to inculcate a competitive spirit. He added that it is an occasion of great joy and the award winning ceremony holds the topmost spot as it provides an opportunity to address the community and share the achievements.

 

Cash prizes to meritorious sportspersons for 23rd Junior National Sepaktakraw Championship, 2019 were awarded Rs 10,000 each to 10 persons who got Gold; Rs. 7,000 each to five persons who got silver medal.

 

For the 30th National Sepak Takraw Championship, 2020 an amount of Rs. 21,000 each to five persons who got silver and Rs. 11,000 each to seventeen persons who got Bronze Medal.

 

An amount of Rs. 11,000 to one person for the 5th International Karate Championship who got Bronze and Rs. 11,000 each to two persons for the 15th All India Independence Cup International Karate Championship 2019. Cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each to five persons who got gold medal and an amount of Rs. 7,000 to three persons who got silver medal and Rs. 5,000 to three persons who got Bronze medal in the particular event.

 

An amount of Rs. 10,000 each to five persons each who won gold medal and Rs. 7,000 each to three persons who got silver medal and Rs. 5,000 each to three persons who got Bronze medal at the 6th ISKF National Open Karate Championship 2019.

 

An amount of Rs. 10,000 each to ten persons who won gold medal and Rs. 7,000 to one person who won silver medal and Rs. 5,000 each to four persons for the 3rd Kukkiwon Cup International Taekwondo Championship 2019.

 

An amount of Rs. 10,000 each to all the medal winners which includes six persons of UAMAI, National Muaythai Youth Championship, which was held at Assam in 2019.

 

Two persons were given Rs. 8,000 each who won gold medals in the XVIII World Police and Fire Games (Archery). Cash prize which included Rs. 8,000 each to two persons who won gold in the 4th North East Open Tennis Tournament 2016. One person was awarded Rs. 7,000 for winning silver medal in the National Level Rural Sports Competition Wrestling held at Telangana in 2016 and another Rs. 8,000 to one person who won gold medal in the first North East Olympic Games in shot put (men) held at Imphal in 2018. Rs. 5,000 each were given to twenty persons who won bronze medal in the 10th North east Dr.T.Ao Football Championship held at Kohima in 2020.

 

Cash amounting to Rs. 1,00,000 each was given to five coaches which include Junior State Volleyball Coach Repatemjen; Junior State Hockey Coach, Tosovi Anthony Kharutso; Junior State Sepaktakraw Coach, Hosishe Khrieo; Junior State Taekwondo Coach, Visabiu Peseyie; and Boxing Coach, L. Chophy.
