The brief ceremony took place at the office of the Superintendent of Police, where SP Kezo “formally handed over a set of new traffic management equipment… for installation and use across the town.”

According to an update received from Additional SP Mokokchung and PRO, the equipment includes convex mirrors, solar-powered delineators, solar-powered blinkers, breath analysers, reflective tapes, and security perimeter tapes—all aimed at “strengthening traffic regulation, enhancing commuter safety, and preventing road accidents.”

Despite “limited funds and infrastructural challenges,” the Mokokchung Traffic Police has “proactively procured these essential tools to improve overall traffic management in the town,” the update stated.

SP Kezo acknowledged the “dedicated efforts of the traffic personnel who continue to regulate traffic efficiently under challenging conditions,” especially those arising from “narrow roads, lack of traffic discipline among commuters and inadequate infrastructure.”

Commending their “patience, alertness, and commitment,” SP Kezo encouraged the traffic staff to continue performing their duties with diligence and professionalism. He also made “a heartfelt appeal to the public to co-operate with traffic personnel, and most importantly, to protect and preserve public property.”

Referring to previous “incidents of vandalism,” SP Kezo reminded citizens that these installations are for the collective benefit of all and should not be damaged or misused.

The new traffic measures are “expected to significantly contribute to reducing congestion and enhancing road safety in Mokokchung town.” The SP called on all residents to join hands with the police in creating a more orderly and safer traffic environment.
