The meeting served as a pivotal platform to advance the Prime Minister’s vision of “One State: One Global Destination,” a key initiative announced in the Union Budget 2025–26. The vision seeks to develop at least one globally benchmarked tourist destination in every State and Union Territory, aligning with the Government’s Viksit Bharat roadmap.

Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the conference and called upon States and Union Territories to collaborate with the Centre in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision. The meeting featured detailed consultations on two major strategies — Destination Development and Destination Management — with Ministers presenting their concepts for developing iconic destinations. Discussions focused on two pillars of the national tourism transformation agenda: the development of 50 destinations through private sector-led tourism hubs, and the introduction of a Performance Linked Incentive-based Destination Maturity Model to reward high standards of destination management.

At the conference, Nagaland’s Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, announced Dzükou Valley as Nagaland’s official nomination under the “Development of 50 Tourist Destinations of Global Standards” initiative. Highlighting the valley’s pristine landscape and cultural significance, the Minister described Dzükou as a “beautiful creation” that embodies the essence of sustainable and nature-based tourism.

Nagaland’s proposal envisions a transformative development plan with an estimated cost of ₹250 crore to establish Dzükou Valley as a premier international eco-tourism destination. The project includes the construction of an eco-friendly luxury hotel, development of supporting infrastructure, and creation of tourist amenities designed to enhance accessibility and visitor experience while preserving the valley’s natural ecosystem.
